Kijk eens; deze kanjer heeft de avondvierdaagse uitgelopen! En hij is flink verwend met de intocht door alle familie langs de kant.

judo examen

Coen had judo examen tijdens ons familie weekend. Omdat hij niet kon, mocht hij het een week later in de les doen.
Coen had exams for judo during our family weekend. Because he couldn't be there he had to do exams in the next judo lesson.


Sommige grepen hadden best moeilijke Japanse namen en daar moest hij even over nadenken hoor. Maar hij wist ze!
He had to think real hard about some Japanese words. But he knew them!


Hij moest een aantal worpen laten zien.
He had to show what he knew.

En ja hoor hij was geslaagd. Dus vanaf nu heeft hij de gele band. Goed he. Ik ben zo trots op hem.
And yess, he passed! So from now one, he has the yellow band. Great! I am so proud of him.

moe - tired

Weet je dat je héééél moe wordt van zo'n familie weekend? Moe genoeg om de hele zondag op de bank te slapen samen met papa.
Did you know, you get real tired from a weekend gone with the familie? Tired enough to sleep on the couch al day with daddy.

Familiekamp

Elk jaar met Hemelvaart gaan we op familiekamp. Ook dit jaar gingen weer met zo'n 50 man/vrouw/kinderen weg. Er waren wat nieuwe bijgekomen en helaas waren er ook een paar die er niet (meer) bij konden zijn.
Zelf presteerde ik het om doodleuk de eerste dag me al zo beroerd als een hond te voelen en vervolgens met koorst maar naar huis te gaan.
Man en kinderen hebben zich goed vermaakt in het bos.

Esmee speelde lekker met mijn nichtjes en met haar eigen achternichtjes en neefjes.

Coen vond dat speelgoed van die kleine kinderen ook wel erg interessant. Het grootste gedeelte van de tijd hing hij in bomen, of in schommels of ergens in het bos, maar zo af en toe kwam hij ineens te voorschijn, zoals nu op een driewieler.

We deden daarnaast ook spelletjes met de hele groep; stoelendans bijvoorbeeld.

Of ballontrappen. Wat overigens niet doorging, maar ballonnen blijven leuk speelgoed volgens Esmee (kun je leuk water mee verplaatsen)

Tussendoor even stoeien met je vriendjes.

Daarna nog even een potje twister doen met alle kinderen.

Heerlijk dat kontje in de lucht, wat vond ze het leuk.

En tijdens de fietstocht was het rustpunt aan het water, wat goed beviel bij jong en oud. Tel daarbij op het mooie weer en elke avond kampvuur en het weekend was compleet.

We hebben weer genoten, op naar volgend jaar!

Each year we go on family camp this time of year.. This year we went again with about 50 man / woman / children. There were some new members added, and unfortunately there were also some who could not be with us. Personally I managed to get sick the whole weekend, so I wnt home. But husband and kids had a good time. Esmee played nicely with my nieces and her own nieces and nephews. Coen found toys for little children very interesting. Most of the time he hung in trees, or swing in trees or was somewhere in the woods, but every now and then he suddenly appeared, as on a tricycle. There were also games with the whole group; chairdance, for example. Or balloongames. Ballones are so much fun according to Esmee (you can move water in it) In between just play with your friends. We played the game twister with all children. Great that little bud in the air, what was it fun. And during the bike ride the stop was at the water, which was loved by young and old. Add to this the beautiful weather and campfire every night and the weekend was complete. We go again next year!

Gesminkt

voordat je gehuild hebt, samen.

Moederdag - Mothers day

Het was moederdag en ik ben verwend.
De kinderen waren al aan het fluisteren beneden en uiteindelijk werd ik opgehaald. Ik kreeg van Esmee een mooie knutsel en een stapel tekeningen. Van Coen kreeg ik een plantje met een briefje erbij. Tot zijn grote verdriet was zijn zelfgemaakte bloempotje kwijtgeraakt in de klas. Gelukkig redde oma de boel door snel met Coen naar de tuinwinkel te gaan en een nieuw plantje te halen met bloempotje. Daarnaast kreeg ik nog een leuk boekje voor de vakantie, over Umbrië en als grote verrassing kreeg ik een trollbeads-armband. Ik ben er zó blij mee. De kinderen hebben zelf een bedel uitgezocht; Coen het hartje, Esmee de groene glaskraal (eigenlijk wilde ze roze uiteraard, maar groen kon ook) en de 3 in 1 van René (ik weet wel waarom) En met het Freija slotje. Ik ben er zo blij mee (oh dat had ik al gezegd he)

It was Mothersday and I'm spoiled. The children were already whispering downstairs and finally I could come.From Esmee I got a beautiful craft and lots of drawings. Coen gave me a flower with a letter. To his great sorrow, his homemade flower was lost in school. But my great mum saved the day and took him to the garden-shop and bought an new one with him. I also had a nice book for the vacation about Umbria. And a very big surprise, I got a trollbeads-bracelet. I am so happy. The children themselves have picked a bead; Coen the heart, Esmee a green glass bead (she wanted pink ofcourse) and the 3 in 1 from René (I know why) And with the Freija lock. I'm so happy (oh I have already said it right)

Motherhood

Morgen is het moederdag.

How do you know if you're ready? Well, there is a test. Unfortunately..... or maybe very fortunately...... I didn't know about it until after I was already a mom. Enjoy!

Mess Test:
Smear peanut butter on the sofa and curtains. Place a fish stick behind the couch and leave it there all summer.

Toy Test:
Obtain a 55-gallon box of Legos. (If Legos are not available, you may substitute roofing tacks) Have a friend spread them all over the house. Put on a blindfold. Try to walk to the bathroom or kitchen. Do not scream. (This could wake a child at night.)

Grocery Store Test:
Borrow one or two small animals (goats are best) and take them with you as you shop at the grocery store. Always keep them in sight and pay for anything they eat or damage.

Dressing Test:
Obtain one large, unhappy, live octopus. Stuff into a small net bag, making sure that all arms stay inside.Feeding Test:Obtain a large plastic milk jug. Fill halfway with water. Suspend from the ceiling with a stout cord. Start the jug swinging. Try to insert spoonfuls of soggy cereal (such as Fruit Loops or Cheerios) into the mouth of the jug, while pretending to be an airplane. Now dump the contents of the jug on the floor.

Night Test:
Prepare by obtaining a small cloth bag and fill it with 8 - 12 pounds of sand. Soak it thoroughly in water. At 8:00 PM, begin to waltz and hum with the bag until 9:00 PM. Lay down your bag and set your alarm for 10:00 PM. Get up, pick up your bag, and sing every song you have ever heard. Make up about a dozen more and sing these too until 4:00 AM. Set alarm for 5:00 AM. Get up and make breakfast. Keep this up for 5 years. Look cheerful.

Physical Test (Women):
Obtain a large beanbag chair and attach it to the front of your clothes. Leave it there for 9 months. Now remove 10 of the beans.

Physical Test (Men):
Go to the nearest drug store. Set your wallet on the counter. Ask the clerk to help himself. Now proceed to the nearest food store. Go to the head office and arrange for your paycheck to be directly deposited to the store. Purchase a newspaper. Go home and read it quietly for the last time.

Final Assignment:
Find a couple who already has a small child. Lecture them on how they can improve their discipline, patience, tolerance, toilet training, and child's table manners. Suggest many ways they can improve. Emphasize to them that they should never allow their children to run riot. Enjoy this experience. It will be the last time you will have all the answers.

Burgers Zoo

We hebben een jaarabbonement op Burgers Zoo en daarom gaan we er geregeld even heen.
Zo ook deze vakantie.
We have a year-abbonement on Burgers Zoo, so we regularly go there. So we did this week.

Ik blijf het geweldig vinden en de kinderen ook.

I just love it there and so do the kids.

Buiten spelen

Het was heerlijk weer, beide kinderen hadden vakantie.
Coen had heerlijk uitgeslapen (Esmee uiteraard ook) een beetje op de bank gehangen, beetje gegamed, beetje TV gekeken.
En toen kwam de spelbreekster: "Coen ga je je aankleden?"
Met veel commentaar wist meneer zich in een zelfuitgezocht shirt te krijgen (haren kammen ging hij écht niet doen vandaag) om vervolgens weer op de bank te duiken.
Helaas voor hem was "de spelbreekster" nog niet klaar: "Coen ik vind eigenlijk dat je met dat mooie weer niet de hele tijd binnen hoeft te zitten, ga eens naar buiten!"
Coen: "maar mama, ik wil gamen!!!!!!"
Mama: "Ja Coen, maar ik vind dat je best even buiten kan spelen"

Met luid gemopper ging Coen naar buiten.
Toen ik even later naar buiten keek zag ik:

The weather was great, both kids had free from school. They both slept very long that morning. Coen had watched a little bit TV, hanging on the couch, gamed a little. And then came I: "Coen I want you to get dressed!" With many complaints he took himself a shirt, but refused to do his hair and then again he dived on the couch. Unfortunately for him there I was again: "Coen I want you to play outside with this great weather, it's not good to play inside all the time!" Coen, "but Mommy, I want gaming !!!!!!" Mama: "Yes Coen, but I think you need to play outside for a while" Very very angry Coen went outside. A little bit later I looked outside and saw:

nieuwe challenge wijDUS

Het is weer de eerste van de maand. Dus er is weer een nieuwe challenge op het wijDUS blog.
Dit maal is het de bedoeling dat je je laat inspireren door muziek, een songtekst of zo.
Ik wist meteen wat ik wilde maken.
Namelijk een liedboek voor Esmee.
Esmee is helemaal gek van zingen en het liefste zingt ze samen met mij; "mama, zullen we samen zingen van ...." Probleem is echter dat ik al die teksten niet weet.
Dus heb ik al haar favoriete liedjes mét teksten gebundeld tot een minialbumpje.
